Since 2000, the department has supported research degree study through the award of MA by Research, MPhil and PhD. We have an exceptionally high success rate with students who wish to follow a 'practice-as-research' route, as well as with more traditional methodologies. Research degrees can be supported at all levels in each of the 4 programme areas and we currently have a number of students studying aspects of music composition and performance, digital fine art, fashion, theatre, film and performance.

Our two research centres are the Centre for Contemporary Art and the Electronic and Digital Art Unit.
