We welcome students with qualifications in subjects across the performing arts spectrum. The minimum general entry requirements are the same as for all the University's post-graduate programmes (as outlined in the Postgraduate Prospectus). Equivalent qualifications will be considered towards meeting the general entry requirements.

This programme engages with performance as an interdisciplinary practice, embracing contemporary theatre, performance, digital and media based performance, site-specific and interventional work, live art and installation. Students are given opportunities to create performance work for a range of contexts including black box theatre and gallery settings. Studio work is underpinned by critical and contextual studies through a range of lectures, seminars and screenings. The course is aimed at emerging artists from a wide variety of disciplines as well as theatre makers and performance practitioners who wish to develop their work at a professional level.
Although the programme places a strong emphasis on practice based project work, students are encouraged to participate in the continuing dialogue between research and practice. All students initially undertake a series of open workshop sessions in which variety of approaches towards the creation of live performance work are explored. These are supported by seminar sessions in research methodologies and professional practice. Technical induction sessions are also available in theatre lighting and sound design.
