The MA Film Production combines practice, theory, enterprise skills and personal and professional development. The theory is embedded in the practical teaching, so that for every new skill and convention learned the reason for its application is also explored. The course aims at emulating, as close as possible, a real working environment in which you ' learn on the job' by performing their roles in a production team. Alongside your drama and documentary productions, you will develop subject specific research skills and apply those to your practical work.
The Course contains 7 Modules, six single modules leading up to the final, triple, major production module. It starts with a taught research module and a small production module. These run alongside an enterprise module that depends mainly on self-study and external seminars. It develops into the first 'minor' project where you produce a short film that is supported by two advanced theory modules. The course culminates in a 60 credit Production module that can be drama or documentary based. There is no dissertation on this MA.
Assessment is by submission of films produced and written and oral presentations of research outcomes. You have to meet a set of learning outcomes appropriate to masters level study to pass your modules.
