Entry requirements: A minimum of a lower second-class honours degree. Teaching experience in language education (typically at least 1-2 years) and/or a pre-service certificate (Cambridge CELTA/Trinity Cert. TESOL or equivalent).

Study options are flexible and you will be taught by expert English language teaching practitioners and acclaimed researchers in the field.

The course combines a focus on principles and theories enabling you to develop practical skills. The core of the programme covers three key areas: language teaching methodology, how second languages are learned or acquired, and the study of language itself. You will also complete a 15,000 word dissertation on a topic which you have a desire to investigate. You will have structured input on research methods and be allocated a supervisor to support your research. You will have a mixture of lectures, seminars and workshops, with approximately eight hours of class contact per week. A student-centred approach is emphasised in the teaching and learning process. You will be expected to prepare thoroughly for all classes.

You have to complete a total of 9 modules of which the Dissertation makes up a triple module.
