Entry requirements

Applicants admitted onto the course will meet at least one of the following:

Must have completed at least Year 3 MBChB (MBBS) qualification or relevant qualification for example in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation or Allied Health Professional
Be actively engaged in or access professional experience in a Sports and Exercise Medicine practice or Public Health service development or service delivery.
Non-medical applicants are expected to have a minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent relevant experience
All applicants must have sufficient competency in English language (IELTS Level 6.5 with no component part less than 6.5) or equivalent.

Course content

Our MSc Lifestyle Medicine course is designed to develop skilled professionals who are able to think critically and innovate within this increasingly important field.

This course is currently subject to validation. As such, the course structure and content may be changed to enable the University to deliver a better quality of educational experience to students.

You’ll learn how to deliver effective management strategies and bring about improved standards within health and wellbeing-related services.

This course is ideal if you’re working in Primary Care, Physiotherapy, Sports and Exercise Medicine, or Public Health. You’ll study exciting and contemporary modules which will enable you to enhance your professional skills and knowledge.

During the programme you will be given opportunities to evaluate theory, practice and associated research in a way which aligns with your career ambitions and your role working with ‘at risk’ groups or communities.

You can study this course in a flexible way which fits around your current role and other commitments, working at your own pace to achieve either a Postgraduate Certificate in Lifestyle Medicine (60 credits), Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits) or MSc (180 credits).

  • Our Lifestyle Medicine course is led by staff who have significant professional experience of working in the health and wellbeing sector – both ‘in the field’ and academically.
  • Teaching methods focus on evidence-based and informed practice that you will be able to apply within your own role.
  • You can choose to study this programme full-time over 1 year or part-time over 2-5 years. Your course leader will be able to advise you on flexible options which will allow you to fit your studies around your work and other commitments.
