Course content
Successful completion of the GMC PLAB 2/MLA is necessary for all international doctors who wish to work in the UK.
In addition, this programme can enhance IMGs’ applications for UK employment, enhance their medical education profile, and lead to further study.
The PGCert in PLAB 2/Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA) (MLA) preparation will prepare International Medical Graduates to complete the external General Medical Council (GMC) MLA and therefore be eligible to work in the UK.
This 13 week-long PGCert in PLAB 2/MLA Preparation is the first of its kind to be run by a British university, taught by academics with a wealth of clinical experience. The course will enable you to gain the necessary knowledge and skills required to complete the external GMC PLAB2/MLA.
There will be a particular focus on the Clinical and Professional Skills Assessment (CPSA), as well as a focus on the aspects of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to undertake the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT).
Unlike other PLAB 2/MLA Preparation courses, we also offer the option to include Intermediate Life Support (ILS) training, approved by Resuscitation Council UK. ILS training is essential for working as a doctor in the NHS. By including this in your training, you will meet this crucial requirement and enhance your competence in emergency situations, making you a more attractive candidate for NHS roles. Please note, this is an optional addition (available at an additional cost) and is not required for completion of the programme. To include this optional training, please visit the online store to purchase the ILS course after booking your place on the MLA Prep programme.
With small class sizes, you will have access to the personal attention and support required to complete your MLA preparation with confidence. Plus, our Preston Campus is conveniently located within easy reach of Manchester by train or car, making it an ideal location for progressing to examination at one of the Manchester assessment centres upon completing the course.
