Entry requirements

Students require a good honours degree or equivalent in a subject related to tourism, business or service sector management.

It would normally be expected that this degree be awarded at the level of lower second class or above.

Other graduates who can demonstrate a commitment to the study of tourism management or who have significant industrial background will also be considered for entry.

Course content

Our postgraduate International Hospitality and Event Management course provides management education for existing managers and those with a relevant undergraduate education who want to develop a career in the dynamic area of international hospitality and event management.

The growing size and dominance of hospitality as the major employer around the world means that companies and organisations are continually seeking individuals with the knowledge and capabilities of managing a variety of aspects throughout this dynamic and expanding industry. Current hospitality trends and market analysis are used to illustrate the competitive environment within which changing event provision and expansion can be successfully delivered.

What you'll do

Learning and assessment

The learning environment is organised to ensure that key concepts, theories, and where appropriate, practices relevant to management in the hospitality and event industry form a central role in teaching and learning. Assessment includes reports, essays, presentations and seminar papers and for those completing the Master of Science Programme, a Dissertation or a Management Consultancy Project.

Knowledge is acquired through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, presentations, simulation exercises, research posters and guest speakers. Directed reading and self-study will enhance both knowledge and understanding.
