Minimum of lower second class (2:2) honours degree; there is no requirement for prospective students to hold a first degree specifically in Media, as the level of theoretical and practical teaching and learning accounts for students who hold degrees from different disciplines. Applications from non-traditional or mature students, with relevant professional experience, are welcomed.
Months of entry
This is a very practically-focused course, which allows postgraduate students to study and produce work for a variety of digital platforms. While there are modules, which focus on developing competencies in the more traditional media platforms of Radio and Television, you will also explore developing and emergent technologies.
The 24-hour access facilities that will be available to you on the MA in Multiplatform Production include the Mac labs, TV studio (equipped with pedestal cameras, studio gallery and raised seating area), specialist studios, including a live broadcasting radio station and voice-over booth. Students may borrow a range of recording equipment from portable recorders and cameras to outside broadcasting equipment.
The Department of Media’s in-house production house, The Hot Room, will offer you the opportunity to work on ‘live’ projects for both internal and external clients. Some opportunities are embedded in the curriculum, but there will also be opportunities for you to gain paid employment through this enterprise, once you have honed your skills.
