- Entry on an appropriate part (s) of the NMC Register(parts 1,3,5,8,10,11,12,13,14 or 15) -Currently in practice with access to learners -A minimum of three years full-time experience (or equivalent part-time experience) in relevant professional practice during the last ten years
- Acquired additional professional knowledge which must be relevant to the intended area of teaching/practice and at no less than first degree level or equivalent. This must be demonstrated through attendance at a taught course or presentation of a portfolio for academic accreditation or by a combination of the two.
Months of entry
Applicant may choose a combination of modules to meet their individual teaching responsibilities or professional requirements. The modular structure and variety of learning environments provides a flexible, coherent and professionally relevant programme of preparation for nurses and midwives intending to teach in either a practice setting or in a college of nursing and midwifery which fulfils the NMC standards statement for preparation of teachers of nurses and midwives.
Advanced standing for prior qualifications and experience and credit for work based learning are integral features of the programme.
