The Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice, worth 60 Level 7 Masters Credits (one third of a Masters Degree), has been designed for individuals or groups of students who wish to develop their professional expertise by undertaking and reflecting upon small scale research with the workplace setting.
This module has been specifically prepared to respond to the needs of School Business Managers (SBM) and those holding equivalent roles who, challenged to respond to the increasing focus placed on business practice in an educational context, wish to further develop their professional expertise and gain academic credit.
Facilitated by a team of Lecturers who each have practical experience working within the administration context of schools, academies and further education colleges, and who bring with them expertise in human resource management, operational management, information technology, marketing and financial management, this module aims to:
- Prepare students for learning at a postgraduate level and a critical examination of the context and practices with which the SBM has involvement;
- Examine the usefulness of theoretical models to successful delivery of the SBM role by encouraging reflective learning and an analytical examination of school business management related activities;
- Develop familiarity with undertaking research related to SBM responsibilities in order to inform and enhance delivery of the professional role and thus the contribution to school performance
