Normally a first degree, or its equivalent with a minimum of 2:2 honours. Three GCSEs at minimum grade C or above to include English language, mathematics and science (including biology, chemistry or physics). Successful completion of the QTS skills test in literacy and numeracy before the start of the course. More detailed selection criteria are available on the course listing page of the university website.
Months of entry
Over half the course will be spent working with children on an assessed placement, with school-based enrichment activities alongside your university-based study. You'll take three placements across a variety of schools and settings, building a wealth of experience to help advance your future career.
We'll teach you to help children get enthusiastic about learning through mathematics. You'll benefit from the experience each student brings to the course, which will lead to a greater appreciation of the range of learning needs you will eventually encounter in school. We're looking for those committed to being good teachers, not your advanced mathematical abilities, by developing those who wish to provide the ultimate maths experience to students.
