Normally a first degree, or its equivalent with a minimum of 2:2 honours. Three GCSEs at minimum grade C or above to include English language, mathematics and science (including biology, chemistry or physics). All successful applicants must have met this requirement by 31 July 2016. Successful completion of the QTS skills test in literacy and numeracy before the start of the course. If you have the desire to provide top-quality physical education, then we will help you explore the potential of PE as an educational medium. Our highly-rated PGCE course will give you the knowledge and skills to be an effective teacher, developing independent learning techniques and self-motivation that will be valuable throughout your career. You will look at the learning potential of a range of aesthetic, artistic, body management and body conditioning activities, helping you plan effective PE lessons for schools.
Over half the course will be spent working with children on assessed placement, with school-based enrichment activities alongside your university-based study. You'll take three placements across a variety of schools and settings, building a wealth of experience to help advance your future career.
