Months of entry
This course will enable you to teach foreign languages to the 11-18 age group with Primary Languages and Post-16 input, including students with special needs. You will learn how to develop the main skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) along with cultural awareness. You will have the opportunity to explore strategies for teaching a wide range of learners using a multi-sensory approach with purposeful, challenging and enjoyable activities.
As well as your university lessons, you'll be placed in two different schools during the training year. You'll have the chance to observe another MFL trainee, working together and sharing ideas to help both of your professional developments. Options 2 and 3 allow students, enrolled on the first year of a masters degree in our partner universities in France and Spain, to complete their masters by undertaking the PGCE Secondary MFL course at the University of Cumbria, thereby gaining two prestigious qualifications in one academic year.
