Course content

This pathway in Commercial Law is part of the Derby LLM programme.

You will be taught in various styles that each emphasise the practical application of your knowledge. In particular, the International Trade and Construction Law modules are negotiation and practice driven. You will be involved in the cut and thrust of commercial non-contentious and contentious activities and you’ll combine academic and theoretical knowledge with practical skills.

We’re one of the few universities in the UK where you can spend time in a professional organisation during the Clinic module to apply what you’re learning. This gives you an opportunity to explore areas of personal interest in greater depth than is usually possible at this level of study.

This pathway aims to develop a unique specialisation that gives you a distinct advantage when applying for positions within and beyond the legal sector.

We can advance your knowledge, if you’re already in employment, in areas relating directly to your work role and career development plans. It will also provide you with a springboard to MPhil or PhD research and a rewarding academic career.
