Course content

The MSc in Innovative Engineering Solutions has been created to enable learners to apply problem solving and creative skills, which will be learnt as part of the MSc, to produce inventive and novel solutions for a range of specialist situations in engineering companies. This course is unique as it has been designed in collaboration with employers and professional institutions to produce graduates with specialist training in problem solving and the generation of creative and state of the art engineering solutions.

Engineering is a diverse subject area and it is important that everyone has a particular specialism. The course offers specialisms in areas such as architectural engineering, civil and infrastructure engineering, electronic engineering, intelligent energy systems, materials engineering, mathematical modelling, mechanical engineering, manufacturing and production engineering and supply chain improvement.

You will have the opportunity to experience different types of learning including a taught face to face programme, a period in an industrial placement with some e-learning and an independent project at our research institute based on the leaners work in industry.

The programme will inspire learners to take risks and to think differently from experiences gained through previous degree study. We all are aware of famous engineers who have done this, such as Isambard Kingdom Brunel or James Dyson, but there are many other engineers who are working quietly behind the scenes keeping UK industry at the forefront of technological innovation. We want you to join the ranks of these engineers and have designed our course to help you achieve this goal.
