Course content

This pathway in Corporate and Financial Law is part of the Derby LLM programme.

The importance of the financial sector and the reform of governance worldwide, make this a vital LLM for you if your career aspirations for development are in corporate or financial law. You will examine the structures and constitution of corporate entities and contrast this with the external factors that govern their liquidity and capitalisation. You will be equipped with a thorough understanding of how law assists in mediating corporate and financial risk.

This course is ideal for you if you’re a solicitor working in areas involving corporate law and finance or if you work for the legal department of a company.

We’re one of the few universities in the UK where you can spend time in a professional organisation during the Clinic module to apply what you’re learning. This gives you an opportunity to explore areas of personal interest in greater depth than is usually possible at this level of study.

This pathway aims to develop a unique specialisation that gives you a distinct advantage when applying for positions within and beyond the legal sector.

We can advance your knowledge, if you’re already in employment, in areas relating directly to your work role and career development plans. It will also provide you with a springboard to MPhil or PhD research and a rewarding academic career.
