Entry requirements

Candidates for MPhil must hold a good honours degree (First class or 2.1) and/or a Master's Degree. Accredited Prior (Experiential) Learning (APEL) may apply. IELTS of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in the written component, or equivalent.

Course content

The School of Nursing and Midwifery achieved outstanding results in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in 2008 and was ranked 2nd in Scotland and 12th overall for the UK.

The Integrated PhD (4 years) is designed for international students to build a solid foundation for PhD study.

Year one includes taught modules on research and academic skills whilst developing an original PhD proposal under the direction and guidance of named research supervisors.

Years two, three and four will be supervised research, and generic activities associated with being a PhD student

We accept proposals that fit in with our Research Programme, and especially if they relate to our areas of expertise in cancer care, maternal and infant health, long term conditions, rehabilitation, acute care, domestic abuse or disability. Please contact us to discuss your plans.
