Entry requirements

Generally a good (at least a second class Honours degree or equivalent) first degree in any subject which has enabled the applicant to develop analytical and quantitative skills. If you are concerned that your qualifications do not meet our normal expectation you may apply, but you should include a short personal statement concerning your general interest in your own education, work experience and prior relevant learning. Places are limited and early application is advised even for well-qualified candidates

Course content

The MSc in Management programme contains six pathways that best serve the existing skills, interests and prospective careers of the students. The six pathways are:

  1. MSc in Management
  2. MSc in Management and Finance
  3. MSc in Management and Accounting
  4. MSc in Management and Marketing
  5. MSc in Management and Human Resources
  6. MSc in Management and International Business
  7. MSc in Management and Banking
  8. MSc in Management and Strategy

The programme begins with a two week foundation module to bring all students up to a common minimum standard in management and business statistics. The foundation module also introduces students to important learning resources within the University (e.g. the library and study skills support) and starts the process of encouraging student to work in teams and to see their fellow students as an important learning resource over and above the resources available at the University.

There are six core management modules including a management report that are compulsory for all six pathways. The compulsory core management modules are:

  • Performance Measurement and Reporting
  • Operations Management and Change
  • Human Resource Management
  • Marketing Management and Strategy
  • Strategic Management and Organisational Analysis
  • Project Report

The management based Project Report is aimed at teaching students how to write a sharp focused management report.

Thereafter, students take a further three modules depending on the pathway of their choice. These elective modules vary across each of the pathways.
