Course content

In the very first Research Assessment Exercise, French was one of the few units to be awarded a star. It has constantly maintained its high standing: in RAE (2008), 85% of research in French was rated 'of international significance or better'.

French offers supervision in any area of French cultural studies, including literary and linguistic studies from the Middle Ages to the present day; Francophone (including Francophone Belgian) and postcolonial studies; autobiography; word and image; word and music; cinema; contemporary politics and institutions; history of the book.
