Entry requirements

A UK 2:1 honours degree, or its international equivalent, in a relevant discipline, plus evidence of a community education background.

Protecting Vulnerable Groups

All successful applicants will be required to join Disclosure Scotland's Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme before starting the placement. In addition, all applicants who don't live in the UK, or who have spent more than a year abroad, will need to provide equivalent verification from the relevant national authority.

All applicants must also meet our English language requirements.

Course content

This programme is designed as a postgraduate gateway to careers in youth work, adult education and community development.

You’ll work through the theoretical frameworks that underpin this area of educational practice, and learn to deal with complex ethical and professional issues.

Your learning experience includes a professional placement, which will give you the chance to apply your knowledge and methodologies, as well as the opportunity to forge vital links within the community education field.

On graduation, you’ll be considered to have met the standards required in Scotland for professional practice as a community educator.
