Entry requirements

Our applicants should have a good first degree (First, Upper Second Class or 2.2) or an equivalent professional qualification. Applicants without such qualifications, who can otherwise demonstrate relevant experience and academic ability, will also be considered. If your initial application is successful, you will be invited to an interview with our Course Director.

Course content

Are you interested in how people develop and how they relate to each other, both personally and in organisations? Do you want to lay the foundations for a professional qualification to work therapeutically with children and adolescents/adults?

Taught on our Colchester Campus, this course offers a grounding in psychodynamic theory and its applications and is a pre-requisite for our MA Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy (If you have taken our FdA/BA Therapeutic Communication and Therapeutic Organisations (TCTO) course you can enter the MA direct.).

This course is the ideal bridge for psychology students who wish to progress in the field of psychodynamic counselling. It also provides a route into counselling and psychotherapy for professionals, such as teachers, social workers, nurses and care worker

Fees and funding

If English is not your first language, then we require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
