Course content

We offer PhD supervision on a range of philosophical topics, especially philosophy of science (natural and social), philosophy of mind, social and political philosophy and social/applied ethics.

In addition to an MPhil or PhD, we also offer an MA by Research in Philosophy. This allows you to undertake a research project in an area that interests you, within a shorter timeframe than the two year MPhil or three year PhD. The award of MA by Research is clear evidence to employers, whether academic or professional, of your ability to conduct independent research to produce original material within a prescribed timescale. It is also an appropriate route to a PhD and successful students have the option to transfer to an MPhil or PhD on completion.
