Course content

The MSc in Applied Leadership Practice will foster a unique exchange for collaboration and professional development across sectors. Working together, we will share the latest evidence-based thinking from research to enhance your leadership skills. By creating a learning space, we will facilitate reflective thinking to generate effective insights that will inform your leadership practice. The programme aims to develop your strategic leadership skills in the overall performance and long-term sustainability of your organisations.

As a senior leader in the business, education, healthcare or third sector, this interdisciplinary Masters programme will provide you with new insights into your leadership practice. By combining the applied skills and personal development perspective of Psychology with the research and business expertise of the Exeter Centre for Leadership, we offer you a unique opportunity to reflect on and develop your senior leadership skills in the context of contemporary global challenges.

You will be taught by world-leading researchers using a range of interactive methods including keynote lectures, workshops, student-led seminars, individual and group coaching and mentoring. Online leadership skills profiling and our unique self-practice/self-reflection assessment will deepen your understanding of your leadership style.

IELTS (Academic)

Overall score 6.5. No less than 6.0 in any section.


Overall score 90 with minimum scores of 21 for writing, 21 for listening, 22 for reading and 23 for speaking.

Pearson Test of English (Academic)

58 with no less than 55 in all communicative skills.
