In these programmes we aim to help you develop your practice in evidence-based psychological therapies for children, young people and families. You will develop the knowledge and competencies required to be an effective practitioner, as determined by the relevant national curriculum for the Psychological Therapies for Children and Young People (CYP IAPT) Programme. We aim to provide you with a high quality and stimulating learning experience in a supportive environment that is enriched by an internationally recognised research environment, nationally recognised innovative clinical teaching approaches and current clinical practice.
The Postgraduate Diploma programme has been developed to equip you with the knowledge and skills in evidence-based psychological therapies required by the UK Department of Health’s Improving Access to the CYP IAPT Programme.
The MSc programme has been developed to enable you extend the PGDip programme, into a MSc by undertaking a piece of empirical research. The research dissertation will allow you to follow your research interests in a topic related to children, young people and/or family mental health or a project related to a service-based development need in this area. Supervision is provided by a clinical/psychological therapies researcher with provision available to support project supervision over the telephone or through internet-based software applications to improve access to the programme.
