Course content

Offered exclusively through distance learning, this course will allow you to develop the practical and evaluative skills required to be directly employable in the computing industry.

The MSc Computing (Masters Stage Award) will enable you to obtain a comprehensive knowledge through independent research in the areas of IT/IS project management, security architecture, games development and web design. We will equip you with the skills required for the creation of the lifelong learner, so you can set your own goals and identify resources for the purpose of learning. You’ll learn how to critically review literature and identify the key developments in a particular area of study, critically analysing them and identifying limitations and avenues for further development or explanation. We’ll also help you to develop an ability to recognise and respond to opportunities for innovation.

Research skills are embedded through the Research Methods in Computing module and include the development of high-level verbal communication, literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills. In addition, the award stresses the importance of personal and on-going professional development.
