Entry requirements

• MRes: you will need at least a 2.1 honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area • PhD: you will need a masters degree or equivalent, in a subject area relevant to the proposed research topic • we normally consider applications from candidates from different backgrounds who demonstrate appropriate research experience and achievement • EU and international students need IELTS 6.5 overall (no less than 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in any other band) or equivalent

Course content

With more than 40 academic staff, the School of Education is able to supervise across a broad range of topics. There are particular strengths in curriculum studies, early years, leadership and diversity in education, environmental education and professional development.

The School of Education provides a stimulating and supportive environment with a blend of extensive professional expertise in learning contexts, covering schools to higher education.

As a research degree candidate, you are supported by a supervisory team with expertise in your subject and/or research approach. A research degree will open the door to work in full-time research, in further and higher education and, if you are a teacher, to a greater understanding of professional practice.
