Course content

The MA in Fine Art offers an exciting opportunity for students to expand and deepen their knowledge and experience. It provides stimulating studio and theory studies to meet the needs of graduates wishing to develop their studio practice in a critical and supportive academic environment.

Lectures, seminars and group critiques provide a forum, linking practice and theory. The programme provides you with a framework within which you will be encouraged to specialise, and through personal investigation to develop a substantial body of work. You will be expected to do so with critical reflection and to locate your work within a contemporary environment of ideas. The programme supports you in engaging with sustainability and the challenges inherent in building your artistic practice.

The course emphasises practical exploration, supervised independent learning, reflection and critical evaluation. You’ll be encouraged to share your knowledge, experience and perceptions. The course promotes intellectual enquiry, a high level of practical and technical ability, and the acquisition of a professional skill set. Its aim is for graduating students to be fully prepared as competitive arts professionals.
