Entry requirements
To study on this course, you must have:
- CIPD Foundation level, or general business qualification Level 2, 3 or 4 with an interest in the HR area
- OR a number of years HR experience
- Non-native English speakers require an IELT score of 6.0 verbal, 5.5 written
This is an academic programme at undergraduate level and therefore students joining with limited academic qualifications need to be prepared to develop those academic skills, through engaging with the taught programme and additional University support services beyond the classroom.
Accredited Prior Learning (APL) is not available for a Certificate in Professional Studies. (Regulation 2.1.7)

Course content
Approved by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) at Intermediate Level, the course supports current and aspiring HR professionals. Associate Membership of CIPD upon successful completion of the course is available to students, enhancing future employability.
One of three CIPD-approved courses in human resource management, you’ll study as part of a community of students with a rich mix of professional experiences, which will enhance your awareness. Directly aligned to the CIPD’s knowledge requirements, the course offers you the opportunity to build your network.
The course is set at undergraduate level and includes students from varying business backgrounds. You will develop your ability to evaluate the effectiveness of HR models and practices, whilst developing your understanding of wider business operations. You will develop personal planning skills and drawing upon both organisational and academic data, you will see how HR management and HR development make a contribution to business.
