Master’s Programme in Data Science
Study at the University of Helsinki and gain the expertise to solve complex data analysis challenges.
How can big data help prevent shipwrecks?
Data science brings together computer science and statistics to tackle real-world, data-intensive problems across industry and scientific research. As data continues to shape every sector of society, the demand for skilled data scientists is rapidly growing—and will only increase in the future.
In the interdisciplinary Master’s Programme in Data Science, you will develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to work in data-driven environments. You will learn how to design and implement solutions to complex analytical problems, preparing you for roles in both industry and academia.
You can tailor your studies by specialising in core areas of data science—such as machine learning, algorithms, infrastructure, and statistics—or by focusing on applications. This flexibility allows you either to develop new methods and models, supported by cutting-edge research at the University of Helsinki, or to apply data science expertise within a specific field by combining studies across disciplines.
