Entry requirements

Equivalent to a UK second-class honours degree in computer science or a similar subject. Applicants with a second-class honours degree in another subject (combined with an appropriate level of computer literacy) can apply but willo need to take some foundation modules first. We will also consider applicants who do no wholly meet these requirements, but who we consider to have enough experience and potential to meet the course requirements.

Course content

Students become familiar with the principles behind a variety of mobile network technologies and learn how to apply traditional software development techniques to mobile devices and how to use emerging technologies to create innovative multi-user distributed applications. It examines the major development platforms and different approaches to providing mobility in computer networks, as well as usability principles and security issues. Core modules are: wireless, mobile and ad-hoc networking; mobile, multicast and multimedia networking; mobile standards, interfaces and applications; secure systems programming. Course provides excellent grounding for a career as a mobile computing system designer or developer.

Information for international students

If English is not the first language, a minimum IELTS score of 6.0, or equivalent, is required.
