An 2nd class honours degree in electronics, computer engineering, computer technology, or a closely related discipline. Students will need to have studied relevant material to sufficient depth to allow them to benefit from research-based study.

Course contentIn the first 2 semesters, students take modules exploring a variety of current reserach topics in electronics and related areas. During final stage of the Master's degree students produce an individual project. Students learn to apply knowledge of data communications to wireless and multimedia networks. Study the analytical techniques that can be used to describe the properties of signals carried by such systems. Students also learn the latest techniques used by digital systems to filter, compress and process these signals.
