The entry requirements will typically be a minimum of a 2:2 Honours degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline. In addition, candidates should have been exposed to relevant material at undergraduate level to sufficient depth to enable them to benefit from their chosen MSc programme.
Months of entry
On this programme you will learn about recent advances in mobile communication systems with full coverage of both radio-frequency (RF) and data communication networks. The programme content will reflect the current migration to tetherless networks. In addition to studying the latest protocols used by mobile communication systems, you will also learn to apply the principles of RF engineering to the design of such systems. You will need an understanding of both generic and domain-specific research techniques, and the ability to apply them in your own work. A module in research methods enables you to develop these techniques, moving from generic skills, such as the design and evaluation of experiments, to focus on the specific skills that you will need for your own project. Modules: Data communications and network principles; mixed mode and VLSI; multicast and multimedia networking; operations management; radio and mobile communication systems; wireless, mobile and ad-hoc networking.
