Entry requirements

An honours degree marked at 60% or above in biosciences, biochemistry, pharmacy or biological chemistry, or an equivalent professional qualification. Applicants with other qualifications, research publications or appropriate experience will be considered individually.

Course content

Ideal course for graduates in the biosciences, will deepen knowledge of biotechnology and the supporting area of molecular biology. Students undertake 4 taught modules and a research project. The modules are: core molecular biology; genes, proteins and development; molecular biotechnology; and industrial biotechnology. The research project will enable students to develop skills while making use of the excellent facilities. Students can choose to examine areas such as: fermentation technology; physiology and molecular biology of industrially relevant organisms; bioremediation; novel systems for waste treatment; transgenic plants; natural products for cancer therapy; microbial diagnostics.

Information for international students

If English is not the 1st language, an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent will be required.
