A sound background in music with honours degree in music at 2.1 or above. Exceptionally, alternative music qualifications will be considered. Applicants should submit relevant supporting materials: a demonstration tape/CD of a recent performance for the MMus in performance; sample compositions for the MMus in composition; a short description of your proposed research topic for the MMus in musicology.
Months of entry
The programme enables development of various specialist skills learnt at undergraduate level. Of the 180 credits 140 are devoted to one of the specialisms culminating in a Special Study project equivalent to 18-20,000 words (a substantial part of which may be a recital or compositions as appropriate.There are opportunities to develop skills in community music. Pathways: performance, composition, musicology.
The assessment pattern will depend on the specialism, but will typically involve coursework with practical recital equivalents for Perfomance students.

Competence in English language is required, as evidenced by IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each skill) or equivalent, or previous study in English.
