Course content

This is a master programme by research designed for those who want to attain an advanced understanding in philosophy. It has a strong research component. The distinctive feature of this degree is that it introduces units of independent study which are tailored to individual needs of student. The students will develop with the assistance of supervisor a personal portfolio of research in an area of philosophy of their own choice.

The approach to philosophy at Hull is an open one. We engage with both Analytic Anglo-American philosophy and, what is often termed Continental philosophy and also promote the study of the history of philosophy. Philosophy at Hull has a strong tradition in applied philosophy: it is currently the home to the editorship of the Journal of Applied Philosophy.
