The CFA and GARP accredited MSc in Finance, Investment and Risk at Kent Business School equip our students with the transferable critical, cognitive and intellectual skills to secure high calibre roles in this specialised sector.

Students who undertake our rigorous MSc learn up-to-date theories and practices in key finance, investment and risk disciplines including the essentials of risk management, global derivatives markets, quantitative methods, portfolio management credit risk analytics and investment management.

You also have access to our ASPIRE centre, a purpose-built entrepreneurial lab where you can develop, plan and launch your own start-up business.

MSc Finance, Investment and Risk is also available with an optional industrial placement.

Professional accreditation

This course is accredited by the CFA Institute and Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).

Bloomberg Lab

This course offers extensive access to real market data via our Bloomberg Lab, a virtual trading platform that is bursting at the seams with real-world data and case studies to apply your newfound expertise.

Quants workshop

Kent Business School offers an optional one and half week refresher workshop in Mathematics, Statistics and Excel, prior to the start of this programme.

Industrial Placement

Industrial placements are the perfect way for you to enhance your career prospects and deepen your understanding of a specific area of expertise. This MSc programme is available with the option to take an in-company or self-employed industrial placement of up to 12 months (visa dependent), allowing you to gain work experience in the UK or overseas.

Information for international students

Please see our International website for entry requirements by country and other relevant information. Due to visa restrictions, international fee-paying students cannot study part-time unless undertaking a distance or blended-learning programme with no on-campus provision.

English language entry requirements

The University requires all non-native speakers of English to reach a minimum standard of proficiency in written and spoken English before beginning a postgraduate degree.

Applicants who are required to meet an English language condition may be able to study a pre-sessional course in English for Academic Purposes through Kent International Pathways.

Fees and funding

KBS has a wide range of funding opportunities for postgraduate students, which include Scholarships, Bursaries, the Kent Business School Loyalty Award for University of Kent undergraduates and the KBS Early Bird Discount which equates to 10% off tuition fees (apply by 31 March 2023 and pay course deposit by 30 April 2023).
