A minimum of a second-class UK degree, or an equivalent internationally recognised qualification in finance, accounting, business-related disciplines, the sciences, engineering, or mathematics.
All applicants are considered on an individual basis and those without an honours degree may also be considered on the basis of work experience, professional qualifications and the relevance of the programme to their current professional role.

At Kent Business School, our MSc in Finance is accredited by three major industry bodies: CFA, PRMIA and GARP and ensures students develop a detailed conceptual framework of principles and practices to grow financial awareness and gain a competitive edge in this sought-after sector.
As a Kent Business School student studying Finance, an internationally recognised team of experts are on hand to ensure you develop a thorough and solid understanding of the fast-paced financial industry, from longstanding practices to exciting innovations.
Taking a 12-month industrial placement allows you to gain work experience in the UK or overseas as part of your Master's. While the placements are self-sought, the School offers support through extra-curricular engagement with our dedicated placements team. Opting for this course with a placement takes the length of your course to up to two years.
You will also have access to our ASPIRE centre, a purpose-built entrepreneurial lab where you can develop, plan and launch your own start-up business.
MSc Finance (Dual Award)
The two-year dual award allows students to attain their first Masters’ award, MSc Finance in the UK in their first year with their second year in Hong Kong at our partner University, Hong Kong Baptist University where they can attain their second Masters’ award, MSc Mathematical Finance. This course is accredited by the CFA Institute, Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA) and Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).
This course offers extensive access to real market data via our Bloomberg Lab, a virtual trading platform that is bursting at the seams with real-world data and case studies to apply your newfound expertise.
Kent Business School offers an optional one and half week refresher workshop in Mathematics, Statistics and Excel, prior to the start of this programme.
This course is available with the option to undertake an industrial placement ranging from 3 – 12 months depending upon your visa requirements (if applicable), allowing you to gain work experience in the UK or overseas. This option is also available for students wishing to undertake a self-employed placement, or ‘SELFIE’ as it is also known.
Students considering this option should be aware that they will be required to complete all stage 1 and 2 modules and that there may be additional costs in terms of accommodation, for example.

Please see our International website for entry requirements by country and other relevant information. Due to visa restrictions, international fee-paying students cannot study part-time unless undertaking a distance or blended-learning programme with no on-campus provision.
English language entry requirements
The University requires all non-native speakers of English to reach a minimum standard of proficiency in written and spoken English before beginning a postgraduate degree.

Kent Business School has a wide range of funding opportunities for postgraduate students, which include Scholarships, Bursaries, the Kent Business School Loyalty Award for University of Kent undergraduates and the KBS Early Bird Discount. The Early Bird equates to a 10% discount on tuition fees (apply by 31 March 2022).
