Entry requirements

Candidates with a UK Bachelor's degree (upper second class) or equivalent qualification can apply for the MSc Research degrees. On all research degree programmes a pass in an approved test in English is required for applicants whose first language is not English. The approved tests and minimum required scores are below. (Please note that tests are valid for 2 years from date of test) IELTS. Scores of at least 6.0 or more in each section and an overall score of 7.0 are required. TOEFL. Scores of at least 600 overall and 5.0 in the Test of Written English are required. TOEFL iBT. We require an overall test result of 100 with the following minimum scores required in each of these sections: Listening 21, Reading 21, Speaking 23, Writing 22.

Course content

Our MSc Research programmes are aimed at anyone who currently only has an undergraduate degree or who has a taught Masters degree in a non-subject specific area, who wish to undertake a PhD. An MSc Research develops your skills as an independent researcher in your chosen subject. We provide both an MSc Research in Accounting and Finance, and an MSc Research in Business and Management. These are preparatory one year courses designed to prepare candidates for the following 3 years of PhD research, also known as the 1+3 route.
