Entry requirements

A 2:2 honours degree or equivalent qualification in a textile related discipline, management, business studies or other related science, engineering or social science subject. Other degree subjects are accepted. General Textile Technology will be delivered as a foundation module for any student without a textiles background.

Course content

This stimulating course develops your understanding of the textile industry, including aspects of technical textiles. It has received high praise from both academia and industry.
You will gain in-depth knowledge of textile management issues in competitive textile markets, advanced textile processes and quality management, sustainability in textiles, and the science, technology and testing of:
• coloration and finishing processes
• medical textiles
• nonwovens
• functional textile materials and their associated products
• performance clothing.
There is particular emphasis on emerging applications for innovative products. You will also receive training in basic generic skills, including laboratory skills, problem solving, reasoning and ICT. You will have opportunities to attend appropriate conferences, seminars and/or workshops. This flexible course allows you to specialise
in:
• advanced coloration and finishing technology
• technical textiles and performance clothing
• advanced manufacturing in textiles and nonwovens
• new product development
• medical textiles.

Information for international students

IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in all components. TOEFL (internet based test) of at least 92 overall with at least 21 in listening and reading, 23 in speaking and 22 in writing
