Course content

This degree will provide you with the knowledge and skills required of a professional engineer to design advanced control systems for complex dynamical systems. The course includes advanced modules on dynamical systems and control theory and also covers the latest techniques for implementing these technologies on a range of high-performance applications.

Modules are taught using lectures and seminar sessions and are supported by a range of structured practical and laboratory work. Performance in modules is assessed by means of open and closed examination papers and a range of continuously assessed work. All students are required to produce a dissertation.

This degree is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC).

You may, if you wish, choose to study for an MSc in Advanced Control and Dynamics with Industry, which includes the opportunity to apply for a range of industry placements arranged by the Department.
