Entry requirements

Students will normally have a minimum of a 2:1 class honours degree in a relevant biological science subject, or an equivalent medical, veterinary or dental qualification. Applicants are selected on the basis of their curriculum vitae, qualifications and referees? reports, together with their perceived ability to complete the programme successfully and on the value of the training offered to their subsequent career plans.

Course content

The first year induction programme includes training in data analysis, informatics, computing and communication skills, and safety. Training is also provided by the University Graduate School (research skills, career development, business awareness, bioethics) and from within the departments (instrumentation, bioinformatics). All students are required to present annual written reports of their research, to give annual seminars and to attend short oral examinations.

Subject Overview
The Division's academic staff expertise allows high-level training in most aspects of applied immunology, including immunochemistry, cellular immunology and molecular biology, as well as clinical and diagnostic immunology.

Subject Outline
Opportunities for a PhD, MPhil or MD by research are sometimes available by competitive application. Those wishing to apply should write to Dr Brian Flanagan giving details of proposed research topics.
