Entry requirements

You will normally need to have the equivalent of a UK honours degree, at 2.1 level or better in a relevant subject. We also welcome applications from those who hold a role or have experiential learning that is relevant to the programme content. Alternative professional qualifications, professional experience, and all non-UK qualifications would be subject to approval by the Programme Director in accordance with the University’s policies and practices which recognise relevant prior formal and informal learning. For non-standard entry the applicant will be expected to provide evidence of recognised prior learning that will be considered on a case by case basis.

First degree should be Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Civil/Structural Engineering, Urban Design, Product and Industrial Design, Automotive Design, Transportation Design or other design related degree.

If you meet the academic requirements of the course but do not have the required level of English Language (IELTS 6.5, with no band lower than 6.0), it is possible for you to come and study at the University on one of our Pre-sessional EAP programmes. This unique programme pioneers a collaborative transdisciplinary approach between Architecture and Industrial Design disciplines sharing a design ethos and methodology; exploring the similarities and differences in a collaborative studio environment.

Leading UK industry is relying on Virtual Engineering to drive competitiveness in an increasingly tough global market. The dramatic change in practices within organisations to be digitally driven in the future requires a wider approach to design and fresh business models. To capitalise on this, it is critical for future and existing Designers and Managers to have the skills this programme provides.
