Iulia Serban from Romania studied MSc Finance at the University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS)

Why did you choose this institution and course?

Before starting the MSc programme, I completed my undergraduate degree in finance and banking at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.

I knew I wanted to pursue finance as a career and chose to continue my studies at the University of Liverpool because of its academic ranking and Russell Group membership. The high quality programmes, excellent facilities, modern campus and access to employability enhancing activities also supported my decision to apply.

What have you enjoyed most about the course?

The lecturers are very experienced and their teaching relates the theory to real-life practice, while encouraging students to think critically. I also love that the Management School has many opportunities for students to grow.

As well as my core studies, I'm part of the MSc social committee. I've also participated in the ULMS Extracurricular Engagement, Careers, and Skills Award (ExECS) and have taken part in the 'We can work it out' Masters consultancy challenge.

How did you fund your study?

Due to the strength of my application and academic background, I was awarded the ULMS Future Leaders Scholarship, which covers the full cost of my tuition fees. I was thrilled when I found out that I'd be receiving the funding.

How have you found living in Liverpool?

Living in Liverpool is unique, there's always something new and exciting happening. The thing I enjoy the most is spending time with people I've met through university. My friends have helped to make life away from my family much easier and together we've explored the hidden gems of the city, including many famous sights and restaurants and attended events. We have so much fun and Liverpool will always be my home away from home.
