All applicants are required on entry to hold a UK degree or equivalent qualification. Normally we would ask that 50% of your degree is in the subject you wish to teach. In addition you must hold English Language and Mathematics at GCSE - grade C or above. Admission to the course is subject to a satisfactory medical report as you are required to meet the standards of 'Fitness to teach'. All applicants offered a conditional place on the programme have to complete forms for this disclosure. In addition, you will be required to disclose any previous criminal record.
Months of entry
The course explores the inextricable links between theory and practice. You are encouraged to develop a principled approach to teaching based on your own informed theory of teaching and learning English. This will be firmly based on experiences and observations within the classroom setting. You are encouraged to be supportive, to adopt collaborative ways of working and to enjoy yourself.
We work closely with partnership schools to ensure that you develop an in-depth understanding of the English curriculum. This ensures a course that is relevant to the changing demands of English teaching.
