Entry requirements

All applicants are required on entry to hold a UK degree or equivalent qualification. Normally we would ask that 50% of your degree is in the subject you wish to teach. In addition you must hold English Language and Mathematics at GCSE - grade C or above. Admission to the course is subject to a satisfactory medical report as you are required to meet the standards of 'Fitness to teach'. All applicants offered a conditional place on the programme have to complete forms for this disclosure. In addition, you will be required to disclose any previous criminal record.

Course content

The Geography PGCE course is structured to help you to become an effective, professional and reflective geography teacher of pupils aged 11-19. It is carefully designed to meet the latest curriculum requirements in Geography drawing on current research, thinking and good practice in teaching Geography. Written assignments encourage investigation and evaluation of classroom practice, reflecting the theory and practice relationship.
