Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a veterinary degree and be members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Prospective graduates will be considered, but all veterinary graduates must have their MRCVS number for application.

Course content

Senior Clinical Training Scholars are registered on a three or four year Master of Veterinary Surgery (MVS) programme. The programme provides appropriate exposure to clinical case load and scholarly activity to ensure that candidates are prepared for and meet the criteria for assessment for the specialist clinical qualification in their field.

There are three elements of the MVS course:

  1. Generic training to support the development of personal and professional skills associated with clinical practice and research
  2. Clinical training allowing the student to gain comprehensive experience in all aspects of the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients in their chosen area of speciality.
  3. Clinical research will be conducted, requiring the design and execution of a research project in their chosen area of speciality.
