A 2:1 or first class honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component score below 6.0.

You will have the opportunity to focus your research interests, with the freedom to investigate how the boundaries of technology can be further expanded. The course is taught within the Faculty of Technology, which has gained national and international recognition for its research into cosmology, artificial intelligence, health care and computing, engineering, and mathematics. This course can also also be achieved through distance learning.
You can study this course through campus-based or distance learning.
What will I experience?
You will undertake a large research project of your choosing which will match the research profile of one of the following Schools in Computing, Engineering, Maths, Civil Engineering and Surveying, or Cosmology and Gravitation. Your project will be supported through formal research training sessions and you will also benefit from the advice of world leading experts. A feature of this programme is the opportunity to work with a research active member of staff through a Research Internal Placement unit.

The course is offered via full-time (one year) and part-time (two years) modes. The following provides an overview of the full-time course content (part-time students will complete the 60-credit Research Preparation and Development unit in the first year and the 90-credit Research Project unit in the second year).
