Entry requirements

Prerequisites: Bachelor's degree in science or engineering (chemistry, biology, biochemistry or microbiology) or in a relevant area with GPA 5.5 on a 7 point scale. Visa requirements: CRICOS Code: 079385C International students must undertake this program on campus at UQ on a full time basis to be eligible to apply for an Australian student visa. Please contact UQ International. English proficiency: IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ. How to apply? Applications must be lodged through UQ International. Closing date: To commence study in semester 2 - May 31 of the year of commencement. Course content

The Master of Food Science and Technology will cover the integrative disciplines of food science and food technology in 2 years. In this program, you will gain a comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge within fields of food science and food technology, and you will have the opportunity to apply these in either a research project or an industry placement. Graduates will be able to apply leadership, research and problem-solving skills to meet the global challenges associated with feeding the world, by contributing to the provision of high quality, safe and nutritionally valuable food and food products, as well as having an understanding of the global policy dialogue on food and food products. It is an ideal program for professionals seeking to expand their career prospects into a wide range of government, commercial, community-based or research roles in the broad field of food science and technology.

Indicative annual fee: AUD$ 34080

Indicative annual fees are calculated on the basis of two full-time semesters only. Actual annual fees may vary in accordance with your choices of majors and electives and whether you study in Summer Semester. Tuition fees are indexed each year. The indexation rate is fixed 18 months in advance of a particular academic year thereby allowing you to plan your finances ahead of time. The University's intent is that fee rate increases will be kept to a minimum and that indexation rates will remain stable wherever possible. Since 2007 the indexation rate has remained at or less than 4%.
