You are normally required to have a good undergraduate honours degree (or equivalent from a university outside the UK) plus grade C or above in GCSE mathematics, science and English or equivalent. Prior experience (minimum two weeks) in a maintained primary or early years school is required. You will also need to pass the Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) skills tests and undertake a criminal record and occupational health check.
Months of entry
Our PGCE Primary course trains you to teach children aged five to 11. If you wish to specialise in a particular subject, area or phase, you can apply to one of our four specialist PGCE Primary pathways in Early Years (ages 3-7), Special Educational Needs, Mathematics, or Foreign Languages Leadership. The course leads to 60 master’s credits and QTS.
