Course content

This course provides students with postgraduate-level study in 4 important areas of current theory and practice in applied linguistics and language teaching; it provides a focused route for English language professionals who wish to develop advanced knowledge and skills in the English language curriculum, pedagogy and assessment; students have the opportunity to reflect on their professional experience and update their theoretical and pedagogical knowledge.

Modules

Semester one: Principles of Communicative Language

Teaching; Language Analysis for Teaching

Semester two: Critical Appraisal of Language Teaching

Methodologies; E-learning for English Language Teaching

Semester three: English as a World Language;

Discourse Analysis

Semester four: Second Language Learning;

Research Skills (dissertation) dissertation.
